Michael Matthews, CEO of MedVirginia, will be a keynote speaker at the January 2006, eHealth Initiative Foundation conference in Tampa, Florida:

Michael Matthews, CEO of MedVirginia, and Sumit Nagpal, CEO of Wellogic, will jointly present at a national conference on m-Health and EOE in San Diego, CA on December 13:
The presentation, Clinical Systems Adoption: A Baseline for Usability and Clinician Acceptance, will describe the collaborative work between MedVirginia and Wellogic in developing MedVirginia Solution, central Virginia’s RHIO. MedVirginia Solution enables clinicians to receive clinical results and other community data in a patient centric format through a web-based platform. The topics reviewed in this presentation will include Electronic Health Record (EHR) contents, usability and accessibility of the EHR, support provided by the RHIO and the value a RHIO brings to a community.

Officials Discuss Health IT at Pa. Summit
National Health IT Coordinator Dr. David Brailer and about 500 other health care professionals on Tuesday attended a summit in Pennsylvania to launch the state's effort to convert to electronic medical records and increase the use of health IT, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
MedVirginia profiled in leading technology magazine!
MedVirginia was profiled in the leading technology journal, Health Data Management (May 2005 edition). Described as an "emerging RHIO (Regional Health Information Organization)", MedVirginia's progress in building its community health information exchange was noted in the article. Also discussed was MedVirginia's "modular approach" to physician information technology adoption, whereby physicians can pursue incremental steps to implementation that fit the needs and resources of the practices.
MedVirginia's CEO presents to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
Michael Matthews, CEO of MedVirginia, made a presentation to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Annual Conference on Health Information Technology in Washington, D.C. on June 9. Michael presented a case study on the Rural Virginia E-health Collaborative (RVEC), for which he serves as Principal Investigator. RVEC is an AHRQ-funded project of Rappahannock General Hospital designed to show the impact of health information technology in a rural community setting. Technologies under study include electronic prescribing, electronic referrals and electronic results delivery.
Governor's Task Force
Governor Mark Warner recently appointed the Governor's Task Force on Information Technology in Health Care. Chaired by Gil Minor of Owens & Minor, the Task Force is responsible for developing and implementing a state health information system that better uses technology and electronic health record (EHR) systems to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care in Virginia.
The Task Force held its first meeting on May 24 at the General Assembly Building. Presenting to the Task Force was Michael Matthews, CEO of MedVirginia. Michael's presentation, "Clinical Information Exchange from the Physician's Perspective", discussed the importance of information technology on patient safety and costs. He also provided an overview of MedVirginia's community health information exchange, scheduled for launch on September 1, 2005.
